Life cycle

"

There are no indicated deterioration times for our products, respecting the necessary washing instructions. However, for hygienic-sanitary reasons, we suggest the replacement of our products with regular cadences, this is because while washing them properly, they can remain small amounts of bacteria that can alter the well-being of our customers. The timing depends on factors such as skin contact and air conditions, we suggest the following timing:
  • Upholstered: 30-36 months
  • Flat linen: 24-36 months
  • Sponge: 24-36 months
  • Pillows: 30-36 months

Maintenance

"

  • For a good life of the product it is advisable to always use liquid detergents and we strongly advise against the use of detergents to be placed inside the basket or in garments because, if they do not dilute properly, they can stain the garment itself.
  • It is appropriate that large garments are washed in a suitable basket, for a double measure for example you need a basket of 20 kg. By doing so you can ensure optimal rinsing.
  • A prolonged and continuous exposure to light can lead to a discoloration of the products; it is recommended, especially in summer, to lay the garments in the shade to avoid discoloration and early wear.
  • Quilted products can be stored vacuum to save space as the padding, both polyester fiber and feather, has a good return; over the years the padding may lose a little volume but will not change the technical properties of the product.
  • Avoid that the sponge, especially the colored one, comes into contact with products such as toothpastes, make-up, creams, hair lotions because they can stain the towels.
  • Be careful in handling jacquard satins because they have a delicate texture in which you can pull the wires with watches and jewelry.
  • Always remember to iron the dark colored garments from the upside down side so as not to make shiny fabrics.

Useful tips

"

To ensure a great quality unaltered over time it is important to follow carefully the indications on the label. In case you have any doubts about the maintenance, washing or drying of a Caleffi product, please contact our Customer Service department: it is at your complete disposal.

Here are some indications valid for all Caleffi products:

  • Store perfectly dry laundry in the closet: you will avoid the formation of mold, the proliferation of bacteria and odours. It is important to wash stained or soiled garments as quickly as possible, as stains may not go away easily

  • Replace the fabric softener with vinegar: you will not limit the absorbency of the sponges and will still be very soft. You can increase the softness by performing a pass in the dryer by setting a low temperature.

  • Do not dry the garments in direct sunlight: the rays could dry the fibers excessively compromising the quality of the product. Drying in the open air, but in the shade, will keep the colors bright for a long time and the fabrics softer.

  • Caleffi sponges are dyed with reactive dyes that are the most solid and long-lasting.
For this reason, it is recommended to make at least 3 /4 washes at 60 º C. This indication will allow you to fix more colors and, at the same time, to eliminate excess ones.
You will need to be careful to separate white and colored garments to avoid color transfer.

  • Be sure not to use detergents with bleach or aggressive optical whiteners that can stain the garment irretrievably. In addition, we strongly advise you to prefer liquid detergents that are not to be placed directly in the basket but in the appropriate drawer.

  • The capacity of the washing machine is of fundamental importance for washing upholstered garments. For a double quilt you need a basket of at least 20 kg that will allow a proper rinsing and avoid excessive rubbing of the fabric. A washing machine with a capacity of 15 kg will suffice for a double bedspread.
It is strongly not recommended to wash the stuffed garments by hand!

  • For cotton garments it is normal to have a small shrinkage that can be limited by setting a not excessive centrifuge. In Italy, shrinkage is regulated by SMI (Sistema Moda Italia ) and is accepted in tolerance from +2% to -4%

  • Do not wash garments by setting a lower temperature than that shown on the label.

  • Duvets with feather padding can be washed dry or in water setting a cycle for delicate. In case you decide to choose for washing in water it is particularly useful to massage at the end the duvet to promote a homogeneous distribution of feathers.
